The Long Beach Mushroom Festival June 29, 2024 

The Long Beach Mushroom Festival, presented by Myceliumatters & Culture Shrooms, was nothing short of epic. On June 29th, 2024, we took the magic of the old Fungi Fests and brought it straight into the streets, shutting down an entire block in front of Culture Shrooms. Over 20 vendors lined the street alongside immersive workshops, interactive activations, and even a live band to close out the day.

One of the biggest highlights was launching our Vote for Mushrooms 2024 campaign, which instantly became a crowd favorite. The energy was electric, and what makes these Culture Shrooms events so special is the familiar faces the locals and regular attendees who make Long Beach gatherings feel like a true community reunion.

Inside, workshops covered a wide range of topics, from Jacob Devecchio’s Mushroom Cloning to Dissaya Theerakaosal’s Cooking Workshop, Shroomeats Burgers & Sustainability, plus the Culture Shrooms Elixir Lounge sponsored by Everyday Dose & Good Pharma. Outside, Justin built a stage from scratch for a full lineup of speakers sponsored by Twisted Tree Nursery. Talks included:

  • Jonathan Garner – Spore to Harvest Mushroom Cultivation

  • Jess Starwood – Foraging Culinary & Medicinal Mushrooms

  • Sam Shoemaker – Demystifying Mycomaterials: Potential and Discovery

  • William Padilla – Brown Truffles: The Earth’s Greatest Mushroom

  • David Poplin – Mushroom Extraction Methods

  • Robert Johnson – Past, Present and Future of Psychedelics

Outdoor activations brought even more fun, from Zenn Renn’s Opening Sound Bath & Yoga, Olympus Myco’s Mushroom Trivia & Giveaways, Max Goransson of Golden Mushroom Co.’s Kids Scavenger Hunt, to a hands-on Mushroom Growing Walkthrough.

As the sun set, the festival turned into a block party, with everyone singing and dancing to a local Long Beach band playing incredible covers. It was a perfect ending to one of the best events we’ve ever been part of a true celebration of community, education, and fungi love.
