Champs Trade Show Las Vegas February 8–11 2023
Whew. Where do I even start with this one
We had no clue what we were walking into. We’d been doing small, DIY-style events up to this point. Pack the car. Lug the gear. Set up the booth. Hope people show up and buy some soil. So when we decided to do Champs Trade Show in Las Vegas we packed like we always do. Which meant... we brought 500 pounds of soil right into the middle of the Las Vegas Convention Center.
Yeah.
Turns out Champs you don't typically sell things at trade shows until the last day, we ended up giving it all away to future customers. So we’re standing there on setup day, surrounded by thousands of polished vendor booths in the counterculture space, and we’re like… “Okay so maybe this isn’t that kind of event.” Welcome to trade show life.
We ended up splitting a booth with Omar from Culture Shrooms which was a huge blessing. Were we technically supposed to do that? Probably not. Did we bend the rules a bit? Absolutely. But it gave us a chance to be there, and that’s all that mattered.
The mycology section was small but mighty. We were vending alongside companies like Shrum and North Spore and honestly just being in that mix felt surreal. There was a moment where Snoop Dogg showed up to his brand’s booth on one side, and Mike Tyson appeared at another. It was one of those “what is life” kind of moments, with a laugh of course. Again, neither of us had been to a trade show before so it was culture shock in itself haha.
We also had Alexa Lloyde with us on this one, our social media manager and content queen. She captured the behind-the-scenes chaos, helped with vendor interactions, and even rolled with us to a few sales dinners. The whole experience was like a crash course in high-speed business growth.
And then of course Omar threw a closing event at the end of the trip, which was the perfect mix of celebration and exhale. Just being able to reflect and laugh about how out of our element we were on day one compared to how we walked out on day four felt like a win.
Champs taught us a lot. It challenged us, stretched us, and showed us how big this space really is. And after that weekend, every other event started to feel just a little bit easier.
