Entheogen Expo July 22 2023 East Los Angeles
The first annual Entheogen Expo felt like walking into a hidden pocket of the myco world that was just waiting to burst open
It was hosted by Noesis and took place near the historic core of East LA in what I’d call a little corridor. From the outside you might miss it but once you stepped in the space came alive. It was a sesh-style gathering with everything from cultivation supplies to actual active mushrooms. Every corner had something to pull you in
The vendor lineup was unreal. Agar Boi and Myco Liner brought their cultivation supply game. Los Malos Eloteros X Cacti Fanatica was their with the ultimate grain and cactus combo. They’ve been friends of ours for a long time so seeing them there felt like home. Miss Mush, who is both a host and a genetic vendor, had her table buzzing. Culture Shrooms and Myco Alchemy both brought their magic. We were set up too and even got to meet Fungstrate, who is a true legend in the industry. That alone made my day
Entheogen Expo also had live art happening right there in the space. Fungal Creations, JPNSAMERICANCAT, and Spores4Whores were all creating in real time. I had my eye on one of Spores4Whores’ pieces for the myco museum and I still think about it
The workshops, demos, and panels were stacked. Basidium Equilibrium was there for what I believe was his first event in California and it was our first time meeting. He’s one of the best geneticists in the industry with a rich history and before long we became affiliates and started doing some really fun things together. The schedule also included the Purveyors and Custodians Panel, Sitting with Huachuma Workshop, Fungal Breeding Workshop, Responsible Sourcing Panel, Invitro with David Workshop, Grafting with Jacobe Workshop, Beyond the Veil Panel, and a Hamsahandoans demo
Poppa Cap made the trip too. He’s one of our incredible affiliates and this was where our friendship really started to grow into something special. By the end of the night we were all still hanging out in the space with some awesome DJs spinning, laughing with new friends, and feeling like we’d found yet another branch of the myco family
Entheogen Expo wasn’t just a first annual event. It was the beginning of a lot of connections and collaborations that are still going strong today
