Kids Mushroom Grow Class with Myco Thumb April 6 2024 Sacramento CA
Some events are all about fun, learning, and planting seeds for the next generation — and this one was exactly that
On April 6th we made the drive from Southern California up to Sacramento to sponsor a kids grow class presented by Myco Thumb. It was held on a small farm in the Citrus Heights area, the kind of space where you can feel the care that’s been poured into it over the years. On the way up, we camped on a cow farm, which added its own little adventure to the trip before we even got to the event
The class itself was simple but so impactful. The kids got to mix their own colonized lion’s mane grain with our Master’s Mix substrate, and you could see their excitement grow as they realized they’d be able to take it home and watch it come to life. Zack from Myco Thumb was incredible with them patient, engaging, and making sure every kid had a chance to get hands-on and feel confident about what they were doing
We also got to connect with some new friends from Sacramento who brought their kids out for the day. The property owners were unbelievably welcoming, making everyone feel at home. And then we had a surprise guest Sacramento native Poppa Cap and his partner Karissa stopped by to hang out, adding even more warmth to the day
Build your own grown kit event was about all community, connection, and showing the next generation just how amazing the world of mushrooms can be. We left with full hearts, new friends, and the feeling that these are exactly the kinds of moments that make all the miles worth it
