On October 7 2023 Mycelium Matters hosted Mushroom Taste Fest at Culture Shrooms in Long Beach. The small, casual event featured a “Grow Your Own Mushrooms as Food” demo and a mushroom cooking demo where Smallhold’s oyster mushrooms were served in fresh tacos. Sponsored by El Hongo Gourmet Mushroom Food, ShroomEats, Troop, Popdelics, Stem + Cap, Eons, Twisted Tree Nursery, and Myco Alchemy, the afternoon blended hands-on learning with delicious flavors. The cozy pace allowed for real conversations, making it a satisfying day of food, friends, and community.

On August 12 2023 Twisted Tree Nursery returned to Long Beach for another Fungi Fest hosted by Culture Shrooms and presented by Mycelium Matters. The event featured mushroom-based food and drinks, a hands-on cultivation class by Jonathan Garner of The Meddling Mushroom, and a psilocybin legality talk by Ryan Munevar. Twisted Tree brought Birdie along to greet attendees and took the stage to share the story behind the business. With familiar faces, new connections, and a warm community spirit, the day was a reminder of how much the local mushroom scene continues to grow.

On July 22 2023 Twisted Tree Nursery joined the first annual Entheogen Expo in East Los Angeles presented by Noesis. Hosted in a narrow corridor that came alive with energy the event blended cultivation supplies active mushrooms live art and community. Vendors included long-time friends Los Malos Eloteros X Cacti Fanatica along with Agar Boi Myco Liner Miss Mush Culture Shrooms Myco Alchemy and the legendary Fungstrate. The day featured panels workshops and demos from top names like Basidium Equilibrium and Poppa Cap while live artists such as Spores4Whores brought the creative vibe. By night the space turned into a DJ-backed hangout where new friendships and collaborations began to bloom.

On April 8, 2023, Twisted Tree Nursery traveled to Austin, Texas for their first out-of-state vending experience at the Texas Mushroom Conference, hosted by Myceliumatters. The event was held at the Etter-Harbin Alumni Center and featured packed speaker rooms, nonstop vending, and a stacked lineup of mushroom brands including Culture Shrooms, Everyday Dose, Fallen Oak Mycology, Shroom Eats, Smallhold, and more. Highlights included Shroom Eats’ unforgettable mushroom meatballs, adding to their growing myco-shirt collection, and deepening community roots in a new region. It marked a major milestone in Twisted Tree’s expansion and continued presence in the mycology movement.

n February 2023, Twisted Tree Nursery attended the Champs Trade Show in Las Vegas for their first-ever major trade show experience. Unfamiliar with trade show norms, they arrived with 500 pounds of soil, expecting to vend like usual—only to learn sales don't happen until the last day. Sharing a booth with Culture Shrooms, they navigated the fast-paced world of counterculture business alongside major players like North Spore and Shrum. With help from their social media marketer Alexa Lloyde and support from friends and collaborators, the event turned into a crash course in growth and grit. What started as overwhelming ended up being one of the most valuable learning experiences to date.
